Zappos Rules!

If they had an "Iron Butt" challenge for web page surfing, I think it would have been something like all the time I've sat in this chair trying to get a new pair of riding boots and other gear. Up to now I've had worse luck than a Republican trying to run for office here in the liberal moonbat capital of the world, Massachusetts.

Well, my luck has finally changed folks. I finally accepted the fact that unless I wanted to wait until August or something, I wasn't going to get the Engineer's boots I wanted. So, I said what the hell and settled for their cousin, the Harness boot. I found these really nice Harley-Davidson Stratus boots for $128.70 at Zappos.com. I ordered them on Wednesday afternoon at a little after 5pm, with free standard shipping of 4 to 5 business days. Did I mention the free shipping is both ways, even if you have to return something? At about 9:30 pm, I got another email from them saying my order had already been shipped out priority, at no extra cost to me, "simply our way of saying thank you for being our customer." Wow. Who thanks anyone for being a customer anywhere these days?

Yesterday, I had a doctor's appointment to have my bad leg checked. I went out to get in the car just before 1pm, and saw a box sitting just inside the open garage door. I thought it was something for my wife, but then I saw "Zappos.com" on the side of the box. It was my boots - less than 24 hours after I ordered them. You can believe after all the bullshit I've been through trying to get a pair of boots that I was shocked, I mean shocked. LeatherUp.com charged me $7.95 "flat rate" shipping, but I waited over a week for my stuff. When I got back home, I tried on the boots and they fit great. Wearing them around the house for a few hours, I could tell break-in time was nil for these babies. I love 'em! The only thing they don't have are steel toes, but I'll suffer. I love the soles on them - very oil resistant. As you all know, when you stop and put your feet down from the bike, you don't want to lose your footing.

Online shopping, like anything in the world, can have an occasional headache attached to it. Some people don't like paying shipping charges, but if you had to drive around to 3 or 4 different stores looking for what you want at today's gas prices, how much would it cost you in the long run? I may have had mediocre success at LeatherUp, but I hit the jackpot with Zappos. They are the proof that quality products with free shipping and excellent customer service can be found online. If any of you are in the market for shoes or boots for men, women and even kids, I strongly suggest you try Zappos.com. They also carry backpacks, luggage, handbags, wallets and accessories from a few hundred brand names. Definitely worth a look. Now, let's see what happens with the chaps I have on the way...

I guess it's about time someone put faith back into the "mail order" system. I guess a 24 hour turn around on the boots is just God's little way of saying, you've past the patience test. Enjoy! Ride on! Lady R.

No joke Dave, and definitely not pink. I've never been described as patient, but I am definitely persistant. Who knows, maybe the man upstairs did decide I'd been waiting long enough - six weeks actually.

I didn't put this in the post, but I also tried calling some local stores that sell Red Wing boots. They make an Eng. boot I was interested in. Not ONE single local retailer carried the boot in stock. How long to get them? Try about two weeks! That's when I went back to the internet, found Zappos, and finally put an end to this long and silly search.

I once ordered a pair of shoes from Zappos on a Sunday evening. When I arrived home from work at 3:30 Monday afternoon, the box was sitting on my front porch!! I have purchased several pairs of shoes from them. They are ALWAYS that fast -- and free shipping to boot!! (no pun intended)

Zappos definitely gets an A+ in my book. They have the most gigunda selection, name brands, competitive prices, free shipping, no hassle returns, and they are super-efficient! I know a lot of businesses that could take some notes on how they run thier operation!

Great to hear something is finally going your way Joker. You'll be out riding again in no time. :-)

Sorry, I guess I should have told you about Zappos. Excellent customer service and the availability of sizes is unbelievable. I had to buy my step-father slippers for Christmas but he wears a size 16EE. No problem at Zappos! I had 10 different styles to choose from!

I ordered a pair of shorter Harley boots from Zappo's and ,like you,I was very happy with the service and the boots fit like they were made for me. I have feet issues but these are comfortable even to walk in for a while. Zappo's rocks for biker boots. Oh, glad to hear you finally scored!
